Meet CJ - The Heart Behind Soulzen
CJ is the force behind Soulzen Wellness and Soulzen Retreats, and her journey has always been about finding true healing. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with a Bachelor's in Health Sciences, but her time working in Neurology left her disillusioned. "The US medical system is all about symptoms, prescriptions, and quotas," she says. So she switched gears becoming a personal trainer and later dove into the farm-to-table restaurant scene, where she found a love for food as wellness.
After a stint in IT for better work-life balance, CJ faced a personal health battle with stage 4 endometriosis. The pandemic pushed her to look beyond traditional medicine, and acupuncture became her lifeline. "Dr. Brittany Woodard-Hampton (acupuncturist) quite literally saved my life," CJ recalls. This led her to start Soulzen Wellness, an platform to support women with chronic illness navigate their symptoms, appointments, medications, and daily practices.
The concept of Soulzen came from a life-changing solo trip to Costa Rica. "I connected with nature and fell in love with myself," she says. She loved Costa Rica so much that she expatriated there. Now, she wants to help other women find that same peace and grounding by any means necessary.
CJ is all about building a community where small changes lead to big health improvements. In her downtime, she travels the world. She's married with 2 dogs and speaks a bit of German and Spanish. "I work hard but play even harder," she laughs.
Through Soulzen, CJ connects with women looking for answers and healing.
"Soulzen is the safe space for women like us".
